[6-11-1998] Check out the latest scoop (A LOT OF IT) plus some PHOTOS from the set of Eyes Wide Shut!

[6-10-1998] Look at what a fan (Brian Foran) had to say about Tom, I thought this was especially touching:

Elle, You have a great web-site and a lot of great information about Tom, but there is one thing that is missing(or I didn't see it). I like Tom as an actor as much as you do, but the thing that makes me a fan of his, is that he is always thinking of others. He has saved a small child from being crushed up against a barrier at a movie premier, he has saved a family from certain death when their boat went up and flames, and he came to the aid of a woman who was the victim of a hit-and-run driver, took her to the hospital, and paid her medical bills. He may be a big star on the screen, but he an even bigger star off of it.

I agree completely - the reason I don't have it is because all the other Tom Cruise pages had it and I would have been ripping the info from theirs, so I didn't put it up. But perhaps I'll add something on that. Tom sure is an awesome man. Thanks, Brien.

Plus an update from Brien on the Cruises: Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman had their private phone calls taped by someone who is trying to sell them to the British press. All of the T.V. stations that got offered the tapes turned them down. Tom and Nicole are offering a reward to anyone who can give information leading to the arrest of this guy/girl.

[5-27-1998] Just a note to those who care: ;) I'm working about 60 hours a week right now till the end of August probably, and thus may be slightly late in updating this page. However, I'm going to do the best I can and hope to keep up with everything. My request to you, please please please, you wonderful fellow Cruise-fans, is to drop me an email if you see something happening or have Cruise News to share. You don't know how much I'd appreciate that. Thanks again, and you are terrific - I love your comments in the guestbook, thanks again! You truly are the bomb! ;)

[5-17-1998] Another update on Tommy - thanks, Jay, for the update! :) Check it out here!

[2-21-1998] This is from an e-mail from Brien Foran - thanks a bunch, Brien! :)

"I own a magazine called Before They Were Stars-Luxury Lifestyles Of The Rich and Famous. The following is from this magazine:
'Life back in Louisville was tough for little Tom Cruise...his father was abusive and walked out when Tom was 11. Left penniless, his mom had four kids to support-so Tom went straight to work. "Tom delivered newspapers and got up at dawn in bitter cold blizzards, dressed like an Eskimo," grandma Camilla Kremer recalls. Neighbor Bill Lewis adds: "While other kids were out raising hell, he had his nose to the grindstone, working day and night." Tom was forced to quit the wrestling team after injuring his back. He tryed out for the senior class play instead and was a natural. After graduation, janitorial work paid the bills while Tom auditioned for every part available. In 1981 he made his screen debut in Endless Love, starring Brooke Sheilds. As a youngster, Tom suffered from dyslexia. He says the disorder gave him inner strength, and he learned to "push hard." "I had to train myself to focus. I became very visual and learned how to create mental images in order to comprehend what I read. I knew I wanted to be an actor and that meant I'd have to read and memorize scripts. So I never gave up. I was determined not to fail." Handsome Tom's persistence paid off. One of Hollywood's top stars, he is happily married to Days of Thunder co-star Nicole Kidman. They have two children.'
There you have it. That's the article. I'm pretty sure that it's still in stores. The Tom Cruise article is in the very back. The cover of the magazine has pictures of Goldie Hawn, Demi Moore, Madonna, Sean Connery, Harrison Ford, and many others on it. It's blue and the cover says BEFORE THEY WERE STARS, which is printed in yellow."
- Brien Foran.

[2-9-1998] GUESS WHAT? FINALLY, the wait is over! Tom and Nicole finished filming Eyes Wide Shut on February 4th, and are now both back from London, working on new movies!!! Read all about it HERE! And here's an older article concerning their return also. And almost forgot, our dear old Mr.Showbiz also has another article concerning honoring Tom and Bob Hope. ENJOY! TOMMY'S HOME!! YAAAAY! ;)

[1-22-1998] The images page has been split into more pages for faster loading, because of popular demand! ALSO, the pics from the fanclub are now available under the images, or Click HERE!

[1-21-1998] TOM & NICOLE plot HOMECOMING:("Variety Magazine", Nov(?) 1997.)

'Just when it seemed the next picture starring Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman would appear on the back of a milk carton, Buzz hears reliably that the end is in sight on the Stanley Kubrick-directed "Eyes Wide Shut." Kidman is now being mentioned seriously to co-star with Sean Connery in "Entrapment." Pic's to be directed by Anton Fuqua, and Connery is producing for a spring start. Cruise is also getting talked up as an available actor again, and might well move to the sequel to Paramount's "Mission: Impossible," which Cruise and Paula Wagner are producing, with Oliver Stone expected to direct from Michael Tolkin's script.
Warner Bros.' "Eyes Wide Shut," which began photography in November 1996, is likely to be completed by late January. Though the duration of Kubrick's movie was first reported in this column (Variety, June 23-29) as a curiosity, it has become arguably the longest shoot ever involving a major star and studio. Cruise and Kidman will be spending their second Christmas on the shoot.
Whereas big-star films take 14 weeks tops, this film will have taken 64 - less 10 weeks for various holiday breaks. The same studio is going the exact opposite route with "Lethal Weapon 4," which doesn't have an approved script yet, but it slated for a January start and an early July release. That might be the faster turnaround of a film involving a major star and studio.'

[1-20-1998] The STRAIGHT scoop on NICOLE KIDMAN:(Advertisement)

'Sure, Nicole Kidman's natural curls are to die for, but even she likes to go straight sometimes. How she does it: with hairstylist Federico's own hush-hush formula, Hollywood Backstage Spray Mousse. Used with a blow-dryer, you get super-sleek results. Call 212-262-3027 to order.'

[1-19-1998] Taken from the last Fan Club Newsletter:

TOM CRUISE BEST AS WOMAN'S FANTASY:
A Survey was done by the condom manufacturer Durex, asking 10,000 men and women from 14 different countries about sex-related issues. The survey found that worldwide 45 percent of woman thought Tom Cruise would be best in bed. For men, Demi Moore won getting 38 percent in votes. In the U.S. the survey found out that more than half of Americans would rather make love than be a guest on the next space shuttle, and 50 percent would rather make love than be president of the United States for a day.

    MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 2:
Tom Cruise is going to be in the sequel of Mission Impossible as Ethan Hunt with Ving Rhames as Luther. The release date for the film will be sometime in the summer of 1998. Watch for it.

Tom Cruise is on the new Mark & Brian (syndicated radio show) CD. He is fooled by a Gene Wilder impersonator and it is quite funny. It is on Oglio Records and is in stores 11/11. (Submitted by a fan to me via e-mail). Tom Cruise was in the movie Young Guns. He is not credited in the movie, but he plays the Deputy in the final gunfight. (He dies.) You wouldn't recognize him because he has a beard and a mustache. (Also submitted by a fan through e-mail to me - WOW, it came as a surprise to me!)

[1-21-1998] (THANX, Linda, for the News!) ==> Tom will be starring in a Barry Levinson movie this year and it is the life story of singer Bobby Darin. This film has been in the works for at least 15 years and they finally got a script and picked TOM. He won over a lot of people! To learn more about Bobby see Linda's page!!

[1-16-1998] The Filmography for Tom Cruise has been added to the bio page, and the Fan Club is in a state of "slow updating". Thus, no more memberships and monthly newsletters, now it's open to the public. (Too little time to update it every month...Sorry!) A couple of new "sponsors"/"links" have been added also on the main page, plus the Celebrity Web Ring! :)

[1-7-1998] The image page has been reconstructed to allow better viewing hopefully! The next Fan Club newsletter will be for Feb 1st (there is no Jan newsletter, just wishing you a Happy New Year)! :)

[11-25-1997] The long-promised Nicole Kidman Page has been added - go to Tom's biography to get to it or click here!

[11-25-1997] Tom Cruise's production company Cruise Wagner Productions has made a deal to do a remake of I Married a Witch. Cruise is not sure if he is going to sure if his wife Nicole will star in it but Cruise is definitely producing the film. Here's a link about it to an article by Mr.Showbiz!

[11-25-1997] In Vanity Fair, Nicole Kidman says that after her and Tom wrap up the long shooting of Eyes Wide Shut, they are going to spend some time in Nepal going rock climbing.

[11-25-1997] TOM & NICOLE HOST FOR CANCER RESEARCH (more info)

[11-25-1997] GQ HONORS "MEN OF THE YEAR":
Radio City Music Hall in New York City
. This is the second annual GQ "Men of the Year" Awards, honoring men in 17 categories selected by readers in a poll. Some of the men honored were David Duchovny for Television: Drama, Nathan Lane for Theater, Peter Jennings for Television News, Pat Riley for Sports: Coach, Wolfgang Puck for Chef, Grant Hill Sports: Team Player, Tom Cruise Film Actor, Michael Graves for Art & Architecture, and Jason Alexander for Television: Comedy. John Travolta received the Zegna International Environmental Award. Christopher Reeve was presented an award for his courage by Robert Kennedy, Jr.
The men honored at the awards are profiled in a special feature section in the November 1997 issue of GQ. On the cover Tom Cruise, David Duchovny and Grant Hill appear to be photographed together but they didn't not in fact posed together. Photographer Michael O'Neill took a photo of Hill in Los Angeles, then flew to London to photograph Cruise and back to Los Angeles for Duchovny. "It was a mathematical nightmare," O'Neill said. "I had to compute camera angles and lighting angles and, using body doubles, figure out how to pose them with enough contact so they would appear to be together."

[11-19-1997] The Tom Cruise Fan Club has grown by one officer - and a darn good one at that! :) Please welcome Marilen as your third officer. :) Look for her updates area for the Fan Club Page December 1st!! *CHEERING* And, a scroller bar has been added to the main Tom Page, so if you have Java enabled on your browser, you should see text scrolling on the bottom gray bar. [11-16-1997] It seems that the counters are acting up at Geocities right now - so please disregard the changing numbers (one time this week it said that there were 3 million some users here - I thought that was a good time to fix them, and leave the numbers there... ;) Also, the newest guestbook page had gotten deleted twice/three times, so a few entries were deleted. This happened when the system was unstable, so it should be alright now. I'm really sorry that happened, but there is nothing I can do about things like that. :( Sorry anyway! And to those Tom Cruise and Kevin Bacon fans = visit Elle's Kevin Bacon Page - another one of Elle's creations! :) And lastly, I am going to make a page called Elle's Hall of Fame over Christmas, honoring my favorite actors besides Tom and Kev - ones included will be: Harrison Ford, Jan-Michael Vincent, Richard Gere, Kevin Costner, Julia Ormond, Mary Elizabeth Manstrantino, Mel Gibson, Brad Pitt, and Christian Slater. [10-12-1997] Due to begin filming next Fall is Alexander the Great, an Oliver Stone movie! Starring: Guess who!!!

[10-12-1997] Tom and Nicole Set To Move Down Under: It has been exclusively revealed that Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman, Hollywood’s SuperCouple, are moving to Sydney, Australia to live - permanently. "Nicole has always wanted her children to be brought up in Australia because of the easy-going, laid-back lifestyle, and Tom is planning to set up his own production company here," reveals a reliable Australian source close to the couple. The Kidman-Cruise’s will move into their $4.2 million Darling Point mansion on Sydney’s Rushcutters Bay mid-August, once filming is complete on the Stanley Kubrick film Eyes Wide Shut. According to the source, the mansion has been undergoing secret renovations; the three-level, four-bedroom villa, which features a heated pool, landscaped waterfall and two security guards on watch 24 hours a day, is being fitted with a new stereo system, gymnasium and play equipment for the children, Isabella, four, and Connor, two. The couple are reportedly planning a six-month trial period to see how feasible it will be to try to combine their hectic Hollywood work schedule with living in Australia. Tom and Nicole’s publicsist, Wendy Day, has not confirmed, or denied, anything about the reliable leak. "Nothing is planned until they finish filming Eyes Wide Shut," says Wendy. Having Hollywood’s biggest star living in Sydney with his own film production company can only have a positive effect on the Australian film industry. Nicole’s next cinema release is the action film The Peacemaker, co-starring George Clooney. Plans are in the works for Tom to star in Mission: Impossible 2, possibly due out in 1998. (Could it be? Another location that Tom's supposedly moving to? - Elle.)

[10-12-1997] There have now been rumors that the date of completion of Eyes Wide Shut is December 1997, and that it is due out in the Fall of 1998. Hmmm? Anyone care to comment? :)

[10-4-1997] Tom's currently working on Eyes Wide Shut, co-starring his wife Nicole, directed by Stanley Kubrick. The rumor is the movie ought to be finished by the end of October 1997, but it's already taken an entire year to film this... Our good old Tom, however, has been great about it and quietly gone with the long-term filming. :)

[10-3-1997] Go see Nicole Kidman's page at Mr.Showbiz's Celeb Page where she talks about life with Tom in an interview.

[10-2-1997] Tom's New Home: When Tom Cruise moves into his new London home, he will be able to watch jet planes all day. The reason is because his new home in Sheen, West London is under the flightpath of British capital's Heathrow Airport. The builders are currently installing marble floors and bathrooms to prepare for the new owners. The Cruise's children, Isabella and Connor will meet some of the other famous children who attend Ibstock Place School. Rolling Stones' frontman Mick Jagger sends his children to the school. Neighbor Andrew Wigley says, "Round here, I can't even go into a pub or a shop without someone mentioning I've got the Cruises as neighbors."

[10-2-1997] The ever-sweet man just attended Princess Diana's funeral - may she rest in peace. God bless Tom for his kindness.
